Back when Chromium still supported NPAPI, we used this modified version of spice-xpi to launch SPICE sessions from a web browser. In later TLXOS, releases we stopped using a browser plugin and just used MIME type assocations (/etc/mailcap rules) instead. Debian's browser-plugin-spice package, where it exists, drags in virt-viewer and all its dependencies. We tweaked the deb to use the lighter legacy SPICE client (spicec) instead. On Wheezy and Jessie the package could not be built for ARM, so for our ARM ports we compiled it manually, and installed just the SpiceXPI/dist/plugins/npSpiceConsole.so file (in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins); we wrote our own one-line /usr/libexec/spice-xpi-client script to invoke our /usr/local/bin/spicec client.
